What Should I Do to Help My Child Have a Top-Notch Oral Health as a Kid?

Posted .

As a parent, you most likely want the best for your child. This means you most likely want your child to have the best oral health possible. This is a great goal to have for your kid because having strong and healthy teeth and gums can benefit them greatly. To help you help your child, our dentist, Dr. Troy Walton, has some tips for you. Those tips are:

-Make sure your kid is cleaning their teeth regularly (Have them use a soft-bristled toothbrush that is child sized to clean their smile every morning and night.)

-Make sure your kid doesn’t eat many tooth-harming foods (It’s best to have them eat things that are packed with protein, calcium, and vitamin C.)

-Make sure your kid visits their dentist (Bring them to our office every six months.)

-Make oral hygiene fun (You can do so by playing their favorite music while they brush or giving them oral hygiene tools with their favorite cartoon characters on them.)

-Make losing teeth fun (You can do so by introducing the Tooth Fairy and rewarding them each time they lose a chomper.)

-Make sure your kid doesn’t go to bed with a bottle or sippy cup of milk (Sending them to bed with a beverage other than water can promote baby bottle tooth decay.)
